Submissions

Submissions are always useful for this site - it cuts down on the amount of material we have to work up ourselves, (obviously), and they give fresh perspectives on various areas of the hobby. If you have an article that you want to submit to this site, the listen closely, for I shall say this only once.....

Before you start writing, we recommend you read this editorial - So, You Want To Be a Writer? - which is full of useful information.

The way dysartes.com deals with articles has changed as we now have a ' staff ' (who can all be found on the forum) for your reference these are: Dysartes, George Spiggott & Daffrid.  These chaps will be happy to discuss any ideas you have for an article or even if you have know of somebody's stuff and think it would be a nice addition.

There are various ways and formats to get a submission to us.

The simplest is to save your writing as a plain text file (.txt) such as notepad or a word document (.doc) and email it to us here if the entire article is just text you can even PM (private message) it to one of us on the forum.  If you need to include any images in your article, it would be helpful if you put the name of the image in the text at the correct position so we know which one you are talking about.  Images should be sent within your submission email, but can't be sent via the PM system.  [If you have an image storage site online, such as photobucket, you can send us a text file with the images listed by their web addresses so you don't need to attach images to your email]

The second option is to format your article into a .PHP* file yourself.  We have made an article page 'template' which is downloadable from here, which includes the .PHP file, and a CSS** file required for formatting and the banner graphic, as seen top left.  You can then edit the PHP file using tools such as Notepad/ Frontpage or Dreamweaver.

*PHP, dysartes.com uses PHP rather than HTML to make it's pages, it's basically the same as HTML but has a few more options, so HTML tags will still work.
**CSS, this is a file which allows you, when using editing tools like Frontpage to preview your article in the dysartes.com colours.  To get it to work though it needs to be moved to your computers root directory, usually directly in C:\ this is not a malicious file and as far as I (Daf) is aware can't be used to allow us to spy on your extensive collection of Arlando Bloom images.

Once you've completed your article, and have it ready for submission, put all the files into a zip file, and email it to webmaster@dysartes.com, with a subject line of "Submission", or click here for the email to be generated automatically.

If you only have a part completed article, or even just an idea for an article, We'll still be happy to hear from you. Email webmaster@dysartes.com with the subject "Article ideas", or click here for one to be generated for you.

All submitted articles will be credited appropriately, and we will try to make sure your have final editing say before it goes up for public display.
