Warhammer 40,000 - Games Day 2004

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get into the 40k seminars this year, so any information I've got either comes from Forge World, or my trip into the lower hall. Thanks to BrainThrust for making notes whilst we were there, as I was doing manic photographing. Consider this mostly a Forge World report, with occasional Stuido bits, and it'll all make sense.

Terrain

  • Abandoned Chimera released at Games Day
  • Buildings from Dogs of War will be being produced.
  • More statues will be being produced.
  • A Kroot Camp (looking something like a giant barbeque).
  • Tyranid Hive Nest (if it can be done without looking rude).
Terrain Q&A

Any plans to do a 40k scale Cathedral? - Ultimately, maybe, but its unlikely - after all, who'd buy it?

What do you mean you're doing Dawn of War buildings? Would a Bonesinger be possible? - Replicating some of the buildings from the game, though modified if needed. A Bonesinger is a possibility.

The Fortress
More of the Fortress

Chaos

  • More Dreadnought variants
  • Chaos fighter, to go with the Helltalon fighter-bomber.
  • Symbols packs
  • Defiler conversion kits
Chaos Q&A

Can you elaborate on your plans for the Defiler? - Not yet, as it requires a lot of concept work.

Eldar

  • Mk2 Cobra

Orks

  • Battlefortress add-ons
  • More looted vehicles
  • Flakwagon
  • 'Eavy Bomber

Imperial Guard

  • Elysian Sentinel (air-drop style)
  • Mine clearing vehicle
  • More vehicle crew
  • Multipart Elysian Drop Troops infantry
  • Tallarn Guardsmena
Imperial Guard Q&A

will you be doing anything for the Griffon in the near future? - Eventually. Its one of those things that keeps going on the to do list and never gets done.

The 1:6 scale BanebladeA selection of trailers.

Tau

  • Hammerhead variants (released at Games Day)
  • Tetra (released at Games Day
  • Pirhana (released at Games Day)
  • Barracuda and Tiger Shark variants

Space Marines

  • Mortis Dreadnought (available at Games Day)
  • More dread variants (siege, for instance)
Space Marines Q&A

Will pre-heresy Space Marines be being released? - They are unlikely to come out, as Forge World is not doing models set in the Horus Heresy for the foreseeable future. The MkIv Dreadnouts and MkIIb Land Raiders are still being used, so don't count. If we were to do them, they'd be new models, not the current ones.

With the new Space Marine Codex coming out, will you be doing more icon packs and/or vehicle doros? - There are more planned, with the Raven Guard being next.

You've talked about icons for vehicles - any chance of some for infantry? - It's a possibilty, but we don't want to be replicating main GW stuff.

Forge World Q&A

Jervis mentioned collaboration on the Revenant Titan between Forge World and Fanatic. Are there any similar projects in the works now? - Yes, on things such as Titans and any stuff for Chaos.

The Imperial Armour hardback books are rather expensive; are the old soft-back books still valid? - Well, they don't have the latest versions of the rules for many units, but there's no reason why not. We'll not be producing any more books in that format, though, other than the updates, as the big books give us chance to do the vehicles justice.

Anything for Necrons? - We'd like to do a campaign book with them, but there'll be a wait for that.

Design Studio Notes

  • Tech-Marine with more arms than strictly encessary.
  • Shift in focus for the Tyranids - what if Kraken was only step 1 of the invasion? Also, concept of "farm worlds" as area to build up biomass.
  • Concept art for Marneus
  • Tyranid Hunter artwork - double chainsword, different shields
  • Alternative concept for Shrike looked better.
  • Calgar's Honour Guard have tower shields.
  • There were greens of stuff by trainee sculptors in the Marine cabinet, looking impressive. Some of them may come out next year.
