Despot class cruiser - 220pts
Prior to the Gothic War, when lance-armed ships were still seen as more effective than ships with weapons batteries, limited numbers of Dictator class cruisers were retrofitted to be equipped with lances in place of their batteries. The belief at the time was that this would make them more effective, but as the Gothic War proved, ships armed with lances need more support than ships armed with batteries. The Despot class Cruiser has proved its worth in larger engagements, working with an atatck group of cruisers to provide lance support and quickly-deployed CAP fighters, but it does fail in what was the Dictator's main role - long range patrols.
