Bodyguards for Tau Commanders - Shas'o Sodit

Designed for use with the Tau Commander and Ethereal rules presented elsewhere on this site.

Bodyguard for Tau Commanders and Ethereals. If taken with Commander or Ethereal, both count as 1 HQ selection.

Armour: The Shas'Vre MUST wear a piece of Armour from the following, no mixing of Armour:
  • Carapace: Free. Gives the wearer a 4+ save
  • Stealth: +15pts. Gives the wearer a XV15 Stealth Suit (see Battle Suit pages of Codex Tau). Gives a 3+ save.
  • Crisis: +15pts. Gives the wearer a XV8 Crisis Suit (see Battle Suit pages of Codex Tau). Gives a 3+ save.
  • Broadside: +50pts. Gives the wearer a XV88 Broadside Suit (see Battle Suit pages of Codex Tau). Gives a 2+ save.
Note: Stealth, Crisis and Broadside Suits increase certain stats, these are NOT included in the stats presented.

Squad Size: Due to the varying armour that can be used by the Commander Bodyguard, the bodyguard can come in varying size depending on the Battlesuits worn:
  • Carapace: 5-11
  • Stealth: 2-5
  • Crisis: 1-2
  • Broadside: 1-2
Both Commander and Bodyguard must have the same armour types (note: Reinforced Carapace and normal Carapace get the same bodyguard). The Ethereal does not have to have the same armour as the bodyguard, but in return, the Ethereals bodyguard can only choose Carapace armour.

Weapons - Weapons depend on the armour worn:

Carapace Weapon choices: One weapon from the following: A Pulse Rifle +0pts, Pulse Carbine +0pts, Burst Cannon +5pts or a Rail Rifle at 10pts (Only half of the Squad (rounding down and excluding Commander/Ethereal may have a Rail Rifle). One weapon may be given a Markerlight at +10pts (may have a mix of some with and without Markerlights).

Stealth Weapon choices: One weapon from the following: A Burst Cannon +0pts, Plasma Rifle +10pts, a Fusion Blaster +5pts, Missile Pods +16pts. One weapon may be given a Markerlight at +10pts (may have a mix of some with and without Markerlights).

Crisis Weapon choices: Normal Crisis Suit weapons and costs, see the appropriate page of Codex:Tau.

Broadside Weapon choices: Normal Broadside Suit weapons and costs, see the appropriate page of Codex:Tau.

Options: If the Shas'Vre arn't given a XV suit, they may be given Photon Grenades at +1pt each and EMP Grenades at +3pts each (All must be given the upgrade, including Commanders and Ethereals that lead the unit). The Squad ALWAYS have the Bonding Knife upgrade for no extra points.

Any and all Shas'vre in the unit may have a single Hard Wired piece of equipment from the Tau Armoury at the usual points.

Transport: If the unit numbers 12 or less (including Drones) or does not wear an XV suit, they may be transport in a Devilfish APC at 80pts.
