Options: The Ethereal may be given Photon Grenades at +1pt and EMP Grenades at +3pts. Any Ethereal may buy equipment from the Tau armoury as normal. He may also purchase a Hard Wired Shield Generator (4+ Invulnerable save) for 30 points. This counts towards armoury limits, and is unavailable to other armoury users. Special RulesIndependent Character: The Ethereal follows the Independent character rules unless accompanied by a Bodyguard.Inspiring Presence: See Codex Tau Price of Failure: See Codex Tau Ceremonial Blade: Forged many years ago with methods long since forgotten, the Ceremonial Blade a very powerful weapon which was to be used by the Ethereals for punishing Tau for breaking Caste rules. Luckily no Tau ever has broken these rules so was never used on Tau. Recently in Tau history, a large stronghold was uncovered containing the single Ceremonial Blade. To use this blade is to be highly honoured! In game terms, it can be wielded with either 1 or 2 Hands, chose each combat phase. No matter how it is used, it counts as a Rending attack. If used 2 handed, it doubles the strength of the Tau using the weapon, but must strike last in order to do so.
