Sandbags At Dawn - Dysartes

Painting the Sandbags

The first stage of painting the sandbags, after giving them an undercoat spray of Chaos Black, was a heavy coat of Scorched brown. This is also applied to the base, as a darkish muddy brown is going to blend in with the other sandbag sections I've done.
A second coat of Scorched Brown is applied, just to make sure I didn't miss any nooks or crannies.
A 50/50 mix of Scorched Brown and Bestial Brown was drybrushed over the entire section. To be honest, it was closer to a wetbrush on the sandbags, but make sure the base is drybrushed - its the first highlight.
Bestial Brown was drybrushed onto the sandbags and base.
A 50/50 Bestial Brown/Graveyard Earth mix was drybrushed onto the sandbags, but not the base.
Coat #1 of Graveyard Earth was applied.
Coat #3 of Graveyard Earth was applied.
A 50/50 mix of Graveyard Earth and Kommando Khaki is applied.
Coat #1 of Kommando Khaki is drybrushed on.
Coat #5 of Kommando Khaki is applied. The sandbags themselves are now finished, and the extra bits can be looked at.
The crate, girders and bolt pistol are reundercoated with Chaos Black. THe crate is then painted Midnight Blue, and given a Blue Ink wash.
The crate is highlighted with a Regal Blue/Midnight Blue mix, thinned with Blue Ink. The girders, bolt pistol barrel and hinges of the crate are painted Boltgun metal.
The girders were then given a wash of Chestnut Ink, and the barbed wire was atatched. The barbed wire was sprayed black, drybrushed with Tin Bitz and then drybrushed with Boltgun Metal. It was then coiled around 3 or 4 paint brushes, and glued onto the girders, and the tops of some of the sandbags.
