Mining Colony Games Table - Orcdom | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
PaintingMost of the table is then coated in this white Masonry paint, masonry paint is slightly textured so it will make the surface seam more natural. The river had been filled and textured. Plaster rocks were sunk in the mud and river rock on the banks along the (finally finished) retaining wall and rocks on the bank of the crystal forest. The rocks act as an erosion barrier like the local man-made lakes nearby.
Spray paint and airbrush time, also a paste of glue and a weird gravel mix was added around the ruins for a 'ruined' look.
The woodland scenic tree bases are used so we can either leave the trees off or put them in, we haven't decided whether to put the foliage on the trees or not yet.
The bridges, and all other stone/concrete work will be light grays to break up the colour a bit and there will be static grass and other things to add a little bit of color here and there. We also painted one of the table sides black to not take attention away from the table and to blend the layers of foam into one mass. We thought of using Masonite and cut it to fit for the sides, but that I think this has been decided to be more trouble than its worth, at least for me it is ;)
Next came painting the crane and the metallics on the buildings and the giant crystals. Lastly the final addition of adding the water effect resin. Woodland Scenics 'Realistic Water' turned out OK, but we added a wash of 2 browns to the mud holes in the quarry to resemble half dried holes.
