Mining Colony Games Table - Orcdom

When Orcdom and his friend build a table, they build a table. [Using feet and inches, much to the confusion of Europeans -Ed]

The idea being to create a multi-level 4'foot by 8'foot games-table based on the idea of a Mining Colony.

The main wooden board is something I brought home that had an awesome rock looking finish on it but, we didn't have a way of getting masonite to my friends house at the time so we used that.  Those are 2"x3" supporting batons, they were a dime cheaper each and straighter than 2"x2" lumber.

A rough sketch that you probably can't see, with painted markings of our proposed river's.

Pink foam is a mix of 1" and 3/4" mostly 1", Blue Foam is all 2".

The bridge is called a 'high water bridge', they can be found out in the countrysode, a lot of times leading to well locations.  When the water is up it just flows over the bridge, but since all the bridge is made of is culvurt (sp?) pipe, stone, junk chunks of concrete and concrete rough finished over it can't damage the bridge and it seemed a fitting addition, an area to drive through the river was originally intended.

The stone quarry, the sides have been drilled and blasted, the craters will be partially filled with gravel then water effects put in here.  The wall is a flood wall (not finished yet) and is higher than the other bank to keep the quarry dry.  I think we forgot about a pump station that is supposed to go in there top drain the quarry, but it may not make the final cut for lack of room.

Here is where the two rivers combine, the water flows from the lake to the high water bridge. the rivers will be wide enough for Rhino sized vehicles to fit, and maybe a Russ, the main part of the river will fit a Land Raider but not the two smaller sections and this is on purpose, also I doubt a Dark Eldar Raider will fit in the smaller sections either due to the top fins.

Bridges added, but not finished yet, these are removable so you can blow them up.

Now I cast some resin pieces for the table and my friend is casting some plaster out of the 'hirst' molds being used for all of our stone work.

Here are the cast Crystals for the Crystal Forest.  The Crystal fields were added and we also spackled in a lot of the gaps, and filled in the holes in the cliff faces, and gaps under and between foam sheets.

Added some Storm Drains to drain the river, and filled in the deep craters with some rock, gravel will come next.

Next came the work on the Sewage Treatment Facility.

The Bridge work closest to the storage tanks was cut out and leveled up and redone, was a little out of plumb and made the bridge platform teeter.

The edge of the ruined city and the crane bought from a toy store in the background.

More filler was added and another storm drain was inserted, in addition to a storage tank for the industrial facility.  The large piping, might have a bridge across it, removed the smallest bridge that was here.  Also a pile of pipe was added for defence from across the river and to cover the bridge. and gives an actual storage spot.

The base of the crane, it has a wireless remote. its 3/4" above the white foam, the white foam will be a false base, we are making a spillway styled dam to feed the river, and we raised the bottom to save on the resin we will be adding later.

The power plant, placed underground, a CD-r case will be eventually be a bunker protecting it

A full table shot at this stage.

He we see that addition of a water tower.  The road through the ruins will be partially covered in gravel, but the back part will be left open and the roads available for tanks, the road is plenty wide enough for Russes with sponsons.
