Sodit's Guide to Making his Shas'o - Shas'o Sodit

For this article, we will be looking at how I made my Tau Shas'o.

For this you will need:
QtyItemCostCode
2Tau Battlesuit Sprue£1099390113002
1Gun Drone Sprue£1.5099390113001
1Inquisitor Kal Jerico Sword Sprue£2139903210
1Fire Warrior Sprue£599380113001
2Devilfish Sprue C£699390113005
Total Cost£40.50

Note: this will be cheaper using spares.

To start, first build the battlesuit like you would normally, leaving all weapons and upgrades off, while creating a pose suitable for a Shas'o.(Dazed, dying, that sort of thing - Ed)

Swords

Clipping and cleaning the swords is the first priorty. Then cut off the sword blade just after the handle. Do this to the other sword while making sure they are the same length. (not vital, but better to do that now)

Now before putting the swords onto the model first get 2 Tau Flamers. Using a modelling knife cut the fuel pack of each flamer.

Now here's the tricky part of gluing it to the under part of the arm. Take your time while doing this. Put the swords in place first leaving enough space for the fuel packs. (The packs only need about 50% glued onto the model)

Weapons

Unlike a normal Crisis suit, I have not put the weapon properly into the hole provided in the arm. I have instead placed the weapon further back (the Plasma Rifle would to far forward and would affect the sword). The problem with doing this is that you will be gluing on a curved surface. It will glue if you hold it for long enough. (or for ease, you can pin it into place)

The Missile Pod was added normally, though I removed the blip that hooks it to the suit arm hole so that it was closer to the body. I then added the Sheild Generator directly to the Missile Pod. The shield generator is made from a Gun Drone top, this idea was given to me by Tavis Hill (see his Necromunda Gang in Army Features). Adding this to the battlesuit is very easy.

Extra Details

To make him stand out more (yeh, as if a Battlesuit with 2 great swords attached to it needs to stand out!) I added random techno gadgets to the battlesuit.

The first is extra antenna from Devilfish Sprue C. First I cut the aerials off using a modelling knife. (DO NOT use a clipper, to copy this conversion to need both parts) These are then glued into the shoulder hardpoints to show his extra communication equipement.

Using the spare antenna holder, I glued both of these to the sides of the jet-pack, mainly to cover up a hole, but they added extra detail.

then getting a Pulse Rifle, I cut off the end, and filed away are one sides 2 half circles, this was to make the fit glue flat onto the helmet.

This was added to get extra detail, but can easily be said to be scanning equipment. Getting a Pulse Carbine (preferably a Fire Warrior Carbine), and using a Modelling Knife, cut off the Grenade Launcher, removing the handle attached. Also remove the small circle found on it as well.

This was also added to further the detail, it is made from half a Crisis Burst Cannon. I removed the barrels by using a modelling knife. The small barrel at the top (which can be said to be a sort of beacon) is made from a Crisis Fusion Blaster ammo tank, this was cut using a modelling knife.

I also added extra targetters to the Sheild Generator and Plasma Rifle. These are made from targetters from the Pulse Rifle/Carbine. Simply cut them off, cut them so their flat, and glue them to the approperiate parts.

And there we have it, a Tau Shas'o Battlesuit which can be just as easily used as O'Shovah! (just that he can't use the missile pod)
