Shas'o Sodit's Invasion Force - Shas'o Sodit

Thoughts on The Army

Why Tau?
The Tau have a unique history compared to the other races in Warhammer 40,000 - rather than wishing to wipe out all opposition, they wish to unite the universe. Of course, if you don't want to sign up for the Greater Good, they're always willing to fetch the big guns in on your ass, but that's purely pre-emptive self-defense.

Why the dark paint scheme for what could be seen as a "good" race?
I don't see it as a particularily dark scheme - I was attempting to copy a scheme a GW staff member showed me, and it actually turned out lighter than the way I was shown.

How well does the army tend to perform?
Well, since I went "Cold Turkey" (due to lending the army to John "Baldie" Broom - Ed) with them, I've been unable to fully make use of their abilities, but in their prime, many victories were won. The most noticeable of this period was during the Eye of Terror worldwide campaign, where I managed to accrue 25 victories out of the stores 34 Tau victories. Though I may go abck to the Tau, one day, and bring vengeance for the Greater Good, I'm currently working with my various Ork armies, such as the one for Tale of the Three Gamers.

Any conversions you're particularily proud of?
Hmm, probably the Commander Battlesuit, Shas'o Sodit himself - he looks very high-tech, yet still very Tauish - thanks to Tavis Hill for the shield generator idea. I also like the Devilfish vehicle upgrade conversion, especially the Seeker Missiles, which don't wreck the smooth look of the vehicle. The Shas'o on foot conversion is one I really enjoyed making, as it shows Sodit's unusual preference for hand-to-hand combat with his lower legs, as he probably uses a kick-boxing style, so he has had extra armour plates fitted to his legs.

Does any unit tend to perform particularily well?
The Shas'o, with two guns and a high ballistic skill, he's deadly! He is also capable of looking after himself in hand-to-hand, with 4 S5 attacks, along with T4, 4 Wounds, a 3+ save and 2 Gun Drones to sacrifice for the Greater Good (ie, his survival).

Have you had any particularily memorable games with the Invasion Force?
Well, there was a battle which I believe was for Eye Of Terror, where I was pitted against a devoted Khrone army led by the infamous "Skinky" Rich (He of the chocolate Orks - Ed). The battle went very badly for the Tau, many of the units were destroyed by the close combat looneys of Khorne, including a 10 strong Fire Warrior getting munched by the Lord alone! But thankfully the mission was Meatgrinder, and I was the defender, and i had only one unit left, one of the 2 Hammerheads survived despite the array of Plasma Weapons hitting it, it actually ended up in the Khorne deployment zone!

And finally, why the Mech conversions?
Well, the "Mega Battlesuits", which is what I've dubbed them, are really to add more backbone to the army and give a better Armour Pentration edge over 3+ save armies, like Necrons and Space Marines. They also have a very Tauish look to them already, as they look close to the Broadsides, big and chunky, with heavy weapons on the arms and shoulders.
