Rage's New Army: Relictors Part Four

And here we are at Article 4 on Collecting Relictors.

It's at this point that I heard of the New Space Marine Codex being released. As the army is nearly finished. :sigh:
Still, not to be disheartened, I will continue with my plan untill I can get ahold ofthe codex.

The plan this time is to add some Scouts to the force. I can imagine the Space Marines fighting their way clear of the planet, grabbing a unit of scouts and draggin them with them!
(remember the Relictors homeworld has been purged by the Inquisition, several batches of Relictors fighting their way clear)

For the time being, I've got a handful of metal scouts I can use untill I decide the direction I'm going to take.
They consist of a Sergeant (again, a Dark Angels Special Character.. Veteran Sergeant Namaan with the Dark Angels symbols replaced), a shotgun armed scout, two scouts with combat weapons and pistols and four sniper rifle armed scouts.

The current Space Marine Scouts are great figures, great sculpts and all the weapon combinations available. there is something about them tho, be it lack of dynamic poses or the way they dont fit with the other marines, I wanted to do something special with my scouts.
I decided to make my own light weight version of Space Marine Armour from a Space Marine with Guardsman head and alot of greenstuff.
I basically cut out the abdomen plate, cut off the armour from the top of the arm (leaving the vambraces) and the thighguards (leaving the knees)
Using the torso back section from the Rhino Sprue also cut out the need for a backpack.
With greenstuff modelled like cloth (with folds in the approriate places) and the guardsman head seemed to fit the figure rather well.
Now to make eight more!

I was rummaging around in the Bitz box (looking for the scout components) and found myself the terminator captain, minus sword and banner pole.
A quick greenstuff to fill in the gap on his back, the adding of the terminator sergeant's arm, and I had a Terminator Veteran Sergeant.
Combined with an experiment in painting armour and robes that came out really well, and he was fit to lead a squad of the Emperors Finest!

I added nine more terminators (some metal, some plastic, some plastic with metal arms!) to make a full squad, and looked at a pair of heavy weapons. Originally I found two heavy flamers in the bitz box, but aquired two assault cannon as rumours about the weapons power in the new codex.

Again, not all are finished painting... my attenction span taking a rather hefty knock!

And all in all, what I had assembled came to a lovely 2000 points in the 3rd edition 40k ruleset.
Perfect timing for the 4th edition Space Marine codex to be released.

Hooray! So next month we reshuiffle the 3rd edition army into 4th edition!
