What attracted you to play Lost and the Damned?
Well, honestly, I've gotta say that it's a combination of modeling
potential, and the relative rarity of the LatD on tabletops. I then decided
to take my LatD and dedicate them to my favorite Chaos god, Nurgle.
What's the theme/background to the army?
My army doesn't really have it's own unique background... I've just used the
LatD's "One Background Fits All" that GW has come up with. That is
to say the inhabitants of a relatively obscure Daemonworld are rallied by
an authority figure (in this case my Chaos Lord) and sort of snowball into
an unstoppable menace. In doing so, others join their cause (such as Mungo
the Mean) and yadda yadda yadda...
How did you go about painting the army?
Painting the army was relatively simple. I started with black primer, then
gave all the skin a codex grey undercoat. I followed this up with a thin
green ink wash, then with fortress grey, then a very light drybrush of
rotting flesh. The pustules were painted with a mix of liche purple and
rotten flesh, then highlighted with a mix of tentacle pink and rotten flesh.
Hair was pretty simple, just Scorched Brown, then successive highlights of
lighter browns (I did it a slightly different way each time).

Why Slime on the bases? |

|
|
Because it's a Nurgle army! |
Are there any conversions you're particularly proud of?
I'm proud of all of the conversions I've done in the army, but the ones that
stick out the most are Mungo the Giant, who wasn't really a huge conversion,
but was probably the best idea I had in the army.
My Chaos Lord, who was
probably the biggest conversion in the whole army, being a huge mix of
Nurglitch, Typhus, and lots of Green Stuff.

How did you do those convertions? |

|
|
Well, the only one I can really
explain (seeing as how my mutants are all pretty much just a jumble of
random parts) are the pustules, which were made by making balls of GS,
blending the edges of the balls into the skin, then poking the bulge
with different sized tools. |
How well does the army perform on the battlefield?
Unfortunately, the army was made with modeling in mind, rather than tactics,
so they tend not to perform very well (the 1000 point list had 4 guns in
it), but they make for interesting games
Have any units in the army out-performed themselves consistently?
I've gotta say that the Mutants and Nurglings have. Giving 20 Mutants Krak
Grenades to eat up points was probably the best tactical decision I made
with the army (I once blew up a tank 6 times over with 'em!). Plus with the
Nurglings being essentially a 30-wound screen, you can't go wrong!
Have you had any memorable games with the army?
I would say 2 games really stand out in my mind:
The first was against my brother's Sisters of Battle, where my horde of
Mutants charged head-on into an Immolator, blew it up with their krak
grenades, had their aspiring champion turn into the Great Unclean one, then destroyed
an Exorcist!
The other was against a Space Wolves army that had a squad of Terminators
nearly demolish my entire squad of Mutants. The last man alive managed to
put his Icon to use, and he summoned my squad of Plaguebearers right next to
the Termies. Following this two out of the five died of Nurgle's Rot, and the other
three were
killed in close combat! Killing such a high-point squad ended the game in a draw for
me, rather than the overwhelming loss it could have been.
Do you have a typical/regular Army List?
Sadly, I haven't played much with them in a while, so while at one point, I
had a regular list... it's all but lost now.
Any future projects?
Currently, I'm working on a Deathwing army, so look out for that in the near
future!
